Place it face down a flat level surface and put the DVD on top. It should balance.

there is always one smart ass!!
    but thanks.

Just tried that handbrake thing but it will not work on my netbook cause of screen resolution.
is there any other software out there?

yeah apologies, here's some actual help:

edit: does your netbook take a DVD?

If your netbook is using any flavor of Intel's Atom CPU (more than likely), it'll be painfully slow converting any DVD in the first place - not an ideal kind of system for any serious video encoding...

thanks for all that. I have an external DVD drive. and i don't plan on any serious converting just maybe an odd DVD.

Dose videora include a dvd ripper with that or is it just a converter.

I've never used it for DVD converting but according to the guide you need to grab DVD decryptor: http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/iPod/guide/dvd-to-ipod/
