Evening fellow posters. Has anyone had any experience of the Irish Ferries/Stenaline holiday deals to Kiln Park in Wales.

I'm considering going next year and was wondering if it is better to book both seperately or do the package together? Is the Park itself well run?

Any info at all would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

Dont know about Kiln Park itself - but Tenby and the surroudning area is spot on. We stayed in a small holiday park near Narbeth up the road from Tenby this year - which was quite and suited us fine, plenty to do in any of the Haven Parks though. My own experience last year was that we stayed in the Haven in near Pwelli "Hafan Y Mor" to mixed reaction. The old parts of the park i.e the buildings dating from when Butlins used to own the place were a bit tired and run down, other bits were new and fine, the food in the on park restaurants was dire, but the water park was good.

Suggest you check out Tripadvisor.com and you should get feedback on Kiln Park. There are lots of other holiday parks in the Tenby area and of course you have Oakwood and Folly Famr up the road as well.

In relation to booking the Stena / Irish Ferries package or booking direct - the obvious one is to work out the cost of the various options but when doing this a few things to look out for.

There are a number of different accomodation options available in the Haven Parks depending where you go to ....these can range from Standard rigjht up to Platinum and generally the more you pay the better the standard of accomodation and you get to stay in a nice part of the Park- thats what we found we booked a Superior Plus mobile last year and they upgraded us at the last minute to an Exclusive for an extra 50 quid which was the preverbial dogs - some of the areas of the Park where the accomodation was only Standard class looked a bit dodgy.

Stena / Iirish Ferries offer only a few of the accomodation options and often limit you to starting your holiday on a Saturday whereas if you book direct you can ofter start your holiday on alternate days of the week and book for more flexible periods e.g 5,7,9 days etc.

I've probably rambled on too much but have hopefully given you a few pointers to follow up.

    All the best

    Hi,

We have been to Haven for the last 4 years and our kids love it. We hve been to Kiln Park once and to Quay West for 3 years.

Kiln Park is very big and gets very busy where as Quay West is a lot smaller park. Also Quay West is cheaper - this year we went in the first week of July and got a top of the range caravan for E900 including ferry (we booked with Irish Ferries and got an early booking discount cos we booked in Feb).

I do agree though that you should get the "best" accommodation possible the cheaper caravans are not great at all.

My children (now 8, 6, and 3) much perferred Quay West as they love the activities/shows/games in the evening and it is a lot easier to get picked inQuay West.

    Hope this helps

Went to Kiln Park twice with the folks when I was a young 'un, and absolutely loved it there. It was the kind of place where ya cried when you were going home!! Tenby is a lovely town, and the beach is top notch. I'd defo receommend it!

Hoping to go to Kiln Park this year. Spent many a summer there in the late 80s and 90s. Can't wait to bring the kids over. Has to be one of the best kept secrets in Wales... Tenby is great a surrounding area. Roll on the summer!

Just back from Tenby and Kiln Park, its my second time staying there.

Tenby is a great little town. Kiln Park isnt as good as it was when I was there in 2009, the staff arent as friendly as before and at times they were lazy and impatient. The arcade is a bit of a rip off aswell.

I would recommend going to Tenby and I would recommend Kiln Park itself for the caravan and the safety point of view of the park and location, but for food/drink and value I would travel into Tenby in future as there are some great bars/restaurants for food/drink. The shops are also excellent as you will find great gifts and unusual items. Equinox is a great shop, worth a look!

Also make sure to check out Caldey Island its a great place.

I was there in June myself. The kids loved it. Tenby hasn't changed one bit. Spent most of childhood holidays at Kiln Park and it looks like my kids will come accustomed to it too! Can't praise the staff enough in Kiln Park. The park itself has been modernised and the indoor and outdoor pools and very well supervised.

Highly recommend it for a family holiday. Plenty of things to do such as Oakwood and Heatherton Park to name but a few. Oh and one of the cleanest beaches known to mankind.

Back once again from Kiln Park! Had a ball. I would recommend Folly Farm and Oakwood. Great to see that they have spent some money on Oakwood this year with a whole new area aimed at the younger children. Manor Farm was a great day out too! Meerkats were my favourite. Heatherton Park was dissappointing and pricey. I think the key to it all is bring the picnic basket with you. Food and drink in general are pricey. My advise is to hop into Asda/Tesco or Lidl in Pembroke when you get off the boat. Enjoy it if you are heading this year.
