UPC - Alarm

This may be in the wrong place but o couldn't see a telephone forum.

Looking at moving everything over to UPC. Phone, Beoadband, and tv.

One sticking point is our alarm is connected to our Eircom phone line to send text messages if it is set off. The guy who installed couldn't tell us much apart from saying the alarm requires an analogue port.

Anyone know is there a way around this or a way to connect and anolgue system to the UPC setup.

Mods move if it would be suited to a different forum.

Unfortunately, no - UPC phone, which is VoIP, does not support SMS. You are able to get "digidiallers" though, for some alarms, that use the GSM mobile phone network instead, completely bypassing the landline altogether. This way you wouldn't need to worry about dumping the landline. No idea on costs or availability though!

We did it. I think Eircom charge about €50 for the module.
