Have you set the HD box to 16:9 in the 'Settings' menu? (Scart/RF1 option).

Sounds like maybe an engineer maybe required...........I assume your TV/display is also set correctly for 16:9?

Never changed anyting on the tv was all fine with older box. If I turn off the sky box and turn it back on I have to manually adjust the tv to 16:9 and it will stay that way until box goes off of course.

when you turn off the sky box do you disconnect it from the mains?

I have read that the amstrad boxes dont keep the aspect data when powered off.

Keep it on standby and see what happens.

Box is always left in standby. Checked the tv settings last night and had to switch the auto aspect selector off. All channels were displaying in 4:3 so I think there is an issue with the box as the tv is now streching the picture coming fom the box to 16:9

Your problem lies with the toshiba tv I reckon. Go into the menu and goto the very last tab and in there....u will find an option called somethink like 4:3 resize or fill screene etc...if its on...turn it off...or viceversa....very frustrating often had this problem myself.

When I switched the auto format off and the picture stays at 16:9. When I had the thomspon box this was never an issue. When they changed the box on Saturday it has suddenly become an issue. If I manully adjust the tv to 16:9 it will stay there till the box goes into standby. When I turn it back on it goes back to 4:3
