I've had this problem recently, going on late night online shopping binges and coming out with all kinds of jerseys/accessories. :(

The good news is you're not alone.

The bad news is there's no known cure.

It's like middle age-it just creeps up on you. There's nothing you can do about it but go along with it. See here:

    http://boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055577641

also Aldi next week to keep you occupied.

Don't try to fight it. You'll lose 'cos you'll always find ways to justify your necessary purchase.

    So just enjoy it.

    • Snip the credit card
    • Get a wife/husband who will give you hell for excessive buying

But even, these cures probably won't work

Wait until you get a paypal account that gets money lodged into it. Regularly have mine in credit just itching to be spent. Can open CRC and have ordered in two minutes from the wishlist :(

Better still wear the gear for a season, lock it away for 20 years and then sell it as retro gear in 2030! Sons or daughters of certain boardsies will gladly buy!

Snipping the credit card will help.

The wife/husband bit doesn't work. All you have to do is get stuff shipped to your workplace. Then when they see you with it all you have to say is "this old thing, I got this ages ago"

I thought I was the only irrational one! I have a wishlist of bit & bobs on CRC that amount to over €420!
The worst thing is I have already spent that amount this summer already!

Amateur, get that up over €1000 and then come back to us ;)

the key to this seems to be not to add it up - ever and you obviously need all that gear as well so its worth
maybe that should be on the next boards jersey

    "because i'm worth it"

I was trying to be conservative! I thought about adding a new groupset & a set of wheels but that would have been just taking the mick right now! (Bike is only a few months old!)

If you feel you need to spend money have a look here

You won't be long maxing out the credit card.

Noooooooooo.........not the Rapha site - that's just cruel!!!!

Next year I've promised myself some kit from there - at least a jersey - they look "smashing!!"

Two of the more immutable rules of cycling are:

    1) There's always someone faster than you
    2) There's always a nicer jersey / shorts / gloves / lights / wheels / cranks / etc/ etc / etc.......

They have some nice new gear coming out for Autumn/Winter also.

thank you, but I really don't need any encouragement to browse that site!!!:):)

I just wish they'd put the Swift jersey in the "Clearance" sale - I think I can justify buying that - after all with all those birds on it, it's bound to make me go faster!

The thing is I am not trying to splash out, I was only looking to buy a few things I actually need.
In addition to my purchases on CRC I even bought a few bits in halfards (I know ) like Muc off chain cleaner kit, teflon spray, finish line grease, cleaning brush, drinks bottles, allen key BB bracket spanner,........
Even more spent in my LBS, puncture repair kit, saddle bag, pump, spare tube, tyre levers, rear light (dark where I live), bike carrier for car.

I've spent more than I thought now!

First off - sorry for hi-jacking but it's so trivial that it doesn't warrant a new thread.

On the topic of online shopping/treating one's self... Anyone any good recommendations of wet-proof pants to wear over trousers? Around €40-ish? On any of the usual websites...

I like to spread the pain...

... a grand at CRC, then another at Wiggle, then a few quid at Slane, then winter arrives and I start all over again:)

You should see the length of my Wish List on CRC .... and that's just for my commutin' road bike!

If you don't already know your CC number off by heart, you ain't buying enough kit. Please tell me I'm not the only one who knows his own CC number!

The worst thing about CRC is that you can view your order history! Very hard to justify when SWMBO checks it out.

She confiscated my CC, but I have a PayPal account and get the stuff sent to work. She can't fathom how the credit card is always maxed out!

I have two massive bags in the loft of stuff that i really really needed as though life wouldn't be worth living without it, used once and put away for ever!

I mean 'Rainlegs' for example.... come on what was i thinking?......... and 6 saddlebags!!!
