    Yup,

Mudhouse have lovely pinot gris, chardonnays, rieslings and sauvignon blancs.

You also have Oyster bay who have all the above too and finally Marlborough wines again halve all the above.

    Cheap and very very nice

    All for under €20

Add Clifford Bay Riesling and Sauv Blanc (bit sweet) to that list. The thing that annoys me about NZ wines is the total lack of any wine for under a tenner. Anyone know why E10 is lowest price one can get these wines at?? - excluding special offers in Tesco, etc on the likes of Montana.

If you've been enjoying the Sauvies you should try find some dry Rieslings (both NZ and Australian) - they're lovely crisp, clean wines that have a bit more complexity.

Up until about a year ago the average retail price for NZ whites was in the late teens, but it has dropped very quickly due to over-supply and a glut of juice appearing on the market during a global recession. The NZ wine trade really only began 20 years ago and due to an initial cult following and no real scalability the prices were quite high. In the last 10 years plantings increased sharply due to demand and many wineries became the large scale operations you see all over the world.

Unfortunately (imo) two decades of hard work at establishing a premium name has been thrown away by deep discounting and greed. You can find €9.99s no problem now, look in any of the supermarkets. Tesco have two at €7.49 at the moment.

Like anything though, don't expect it to be as exciting as the one you pay €15 for!:)

    Lawson's Dry Hills Gewurztraminer.

    Kim Crawford Spitfire Sauvignon Blanc.

    Astrolabe Sauvignon Blanc.

Oyster Bay is pretty good too!

Yeah, as somebody mentioned above, there is some oversupply of New Zealand wines at the minute, so maybe we might see some slightly lower prices for a while. Generally though New Zealand is a "premium producer" and leaves bulk wines to other countries like Chile and Australia.

Had a beautiful Rueda last week, Smelled and tasted very similar to a NZ Sauvignon Blanc but IMHO better and around €11.

As above, Astrolabe is excellent. I like Villa Maria as well - good for a mass produced wine. Also Waipara Springs sauvi is made by ex winemaker of Cloudy Bay. Serious stuff.

Mattkane: Would you be interested in trying a wild-ferment Marlborough sauvingon? I'm bringing some to Ireland in 3 weeks time if you'd like to try it.

There are some wonderful wine available. If you have a specific wine in mind that you can't locate, try Pardon That Vine I think you should try this. Hope it will help you.

Villa Maria sauvignon blanc is a firm favourite of mine.

Australabe SB has to be the best value white wine on the market in Ireland bar none. Whiehaven not bad either, nor Villa Maria. Kim Crawford excellent.

If you like NZ Sauv Blanc you should try to get your hands on some Greywacke it is top drawer stuff lovely mineral quality, from the Godfather of NZSB Kevin Judd, the guy who put the style on the map with his work with Cloudy Bay (when it used to be worth the money)

If you can find it Vavasour is a fantastic wine label, I have never been disappointed with it, I was down there in February and sampled a lot.
Sauv Blanc especially but Pinot Noir is starting to appear a lot more now.
