I use the Meguiars one...it's purple in colour. I've had the same bottle over 2 years now. The tyres stay looking black for ages

The spray aerosol can run out very fast, I perfer the squirty bottle ones last much longer. I usually get the one on special offer.

Also just used the purple Maguires and its probably the best one I've used yet.

I used the spray also and found it runs out fast.

Also check the online price on halfords wed site and then store. At my local the online site is cheaper then instore price on some items.

Another endorsement for the Meguiars purple tyre dressing. Only use it every two weeks & it keeps them black.

I got a special offer on the Turtle Wax Wet n Black in Dunnes Stores there a few months ago, buy one get one free.

I apply it using one of those small sponges from the kitchen.

That wet n black is the one I use. A bottel last ages, I just squirt it on and leave it. Also does a good jobs of blackening faded plastic trim.

I was thinking of getting a tyre dress...How does it work? It's not an oil is it? Would be worried about grip.

You only apply it to the wall of the tyre, not to the actual thread on the tyre.

I think its a silicone, smells like silicone lubricant (yes I have a lots of experiance with various lubricants ;)). It mearly coats the tyre, sticks to it and looks wet making the tyre look black.

A friend of mine that trades in cars used to buy a big 5 Litre can of some special unbranded tyre gloss from somebody else he knew that worked in the car valeting trade .

He would always give a jar full for free and thats all i ever used. This stuff was amazing and would literally last 2 months per application ... would also work wonders on any faded black plastic panels for example.

    was great stuff!
