Just out of curiosity how much have you won off of scratch cards? which type and how much would you spend a year on them on average?

I don't bother me hole with 'em.

A waste of money if you ask me.

the odds are stacked seriously against you(the buyer) .... they state that 1 in 4 or 5 or 6.5 wins ....but they include 3 stars as a win, how many tmes do you get 3 stars, free ticket and 2 euro and not feel like you have won.

NOTE: The reason they regard it as a win is that you have in effect "won" entry into the special draw - but of all the lucky stars that are posted in only a selection are actually placed in a drum for the draw on TV.

100% rip off. Putting a quid on a random number in whatever race is about to start in a bookies is probably better value.

My cousin bought a few hundred scratch cards to place at the tables for the guests at his wedding as a bit of fun. No one reported any big wins at all, loads of people either got a free scratch card, 3 stars or 2 euro. Total waste of money. I never bought one since he told me that

is it possible that someone actually won big (well couple of hundred) and just kept their mouth shut for fear they'd be forced to buy a couple of rounds with the winnings ?

The biggest rip off aspect is that there are only a limited number of top prizes (e.g. 10k) and when all the top prizes (or any prizes for that matter) have been won they don't issue new cards, so you can't actually win those prizes anymore.
