One Satellite and 4 receivers

    Hi,
I have an existing sky box in my house with a which is fed from a satellite dish with a single LNB. I hope to install 3 no. receivers in my home so that I can watch free to air channels in 3 of the other rooms. What I was wondering was
Can I tee into the co-axial cable coming from an existing sky dish and connect into the 3 new satellite box also.

The reason I hope to do this is to avoid mounting 4 no. Dishs outside the house.
The reason I am unsure is because each box gives out 13volts at 300ma and I was afraid one might back feed into the other and a higher voltage will be placed on the cable coming from the dish.
I got a unit called a satellite splitter and connected the cable coming from the satellite into it the in and connected one of the outputs to the sky receiver. This didn’t work. Do I need a different unit .
Is it possible to do this or do I need to install a separate dish per receiver

You need to change your single lnb to a quad lnb to feed all your receivers seperatly

With satellite, each receiver needs it's own dedicated cable to the satellite dish (or two cables in the case of Sky+ type services).

However as scaller says, that doesn't mean you need 4 dish, you just need to put a quad (or octo) lnb on your existing dish. An lnb is the box type thing that sticks out in the front of the dish. This would be a pretty straightforward job for any satellite installer.

Quad LNB means you can run 4 cables from it (either 4 receivers or 1 Sky+ and 2 receivers or 2 sky+).

A octo LNB means you can run 8 cables from it.

Scaller and BK thanks for your assistance on the query I had on the satellite and the 4 receivers
You have saved me a lot of messing around.

    I have another question
The sky dish I have at the moment has a single LNB. The make of the LNB is Thomson. Is it possible to get this type of LNB in a quad version and also would it be the same dimensions as the single unit so it would be a matter of swapping one unit with the other. I know you would probably need to tune in the channels again but it might save on time or would I be better off to go for a different make of LNB.

You can use any make of quad lnb suitable for a sky minidish

I'm doing the exact same thing.
I already have a quad lnb, I got it a couple of years ago but didn't use it.
How do I know by looking at it, if its sky compatible?
