I want to go back to college next year in 2010 full time (degree) but in the meantime was thinking of doing a Certificate course in the evening until Christmas. If i do a certificate course (FETAC)will i still be entitled to free fees next year for my full time course. I read somewhere that if you have a previous qualification you will not be entitled. I am over 23 and do not have a previous qualification.

I think you can do the certificate course. You just don't get free fees if you do a course at an equivalent or lower level (ie doing a degree and then a cert) on the NFQ scale.

Whatever you do, don't take my word for it.

Under the current system, you don't have to pay fees provided you are entering a 3rd level course for the first time.

However, the "free fees" system will most likely be gone next year.
