so, theory test booked for october 2nd.

Do I need to have the eyesight test thing done before going to the theory test?

Also, does anyone in fingal have experience of applying? Can you just go to the tax office and get it on the spot if you hand over all the documents and money or do you have to wait on them to post it out?

    No.

Fingal Co Co don't do any motor tax/licencing. Dublin City Council do all of Dublin (City and County). If you live in Fingal, your nearest MTO is in Ballymun. The next nearest is in Blackhall Walk (off Queen Street) in Dublin 7.

You may apply in person but they'll insist on posting it back to you.

Does anyone know the typical wait time in the Blackhall Walk office? My wife wants to apply for a provisional and since the application needs to include her passport, Garda immigration card and so on, she's worried about all this getting lost.

The reciept from the tax office is usually acceptable as a learner permit to the gardai and to driving instructors.

its purely at the discretion of the Gardaí and the school of motoring. Smithfield, Blackhall walk, aim to have a turn around of five working days.
