looking for some advice regarding a bluetooth car kit.just bought an 06 520d and there is no bluetooth yet there are the buttons on the steering wheel and you can go into communication via i drive
went to halfords today to see about getting a parrot car kit but was told they are reluctant to fit them in bmws as it takes too long:mad:.
so ill either get someone else to do it,or would cost much to get a bmw one fitted, anyone else have a similar problem

you can get a parrot kit and an interface to get it working with the steering wheel buttons. any car kit place will fit a std parrot kit for you, halfords wouldn't be the best for that kind of thing. I think there is a guy on the bmw-driver.net site who comes to you and does a decent price..

The bmw oem kit would cost a lot more, 4 or 5 times at least, but it would work with wheel and idrive.

cheers copacetic must look into that was thinking halfords might not be great he didnt sound like he knew too much.
was expecting the bmw option might be pricy a shame to have the i drive there and not to be able to use it

Stay away from Halfords on this.
Got to a decent Auto Electrician/alarm/phone equip installer and get a nice install done - and it won't cost the earth as these days you can have a haggle on pricing.

Any recommendations for someone to supply/fit? (Meath/Cavan areas ideally!) :D

95 euros is about right, a bit on the low side if im honest. properly done its all plug and play with the proper ISO looms and connectors, but its the dash stripping thats the hard bit. knowing where to pull and where to push in order to get the panels off without scratching etc etc.

it really all depends on how much function you want.

you can get a nokia ck-7w bluetooth car kit supplied and fitted for 170euro and it will leave no visiable signs on the dash other that the little nokia click wheel.

or you can get a parrot kit fitted with the telemutics (iirc) box that allows it to talk to the BMW system and allow limited functions through the bmw steering wheel buttons.

OEM BMW system can be got for in and around the 1k mark iirc as ive seen people over on E90 post forum talking about the retrofit.
