I went into user accounts on the control panel to create a new account!

However, it said you had to set up an administrator account before you could set up a limited one!

So I set up an administrator accountmad.gif and now I can't find the old one anywhere that had everything on it! It's not coming up as an account!

I'm dead when the other people that use this computer see what I've done!

    That's a pickle alright :)

My bet is you were using the built-in admin account which is why you can't see it in user accounts.

Does the pc auto-login or do you see the welcome screen?

Are your files in the one you just set up?

    Are you using XP?

Go to C:\Users and see if its there

Just go back to the last restore point on the machine, you may lose some documents from when the restore point is to when you lost the profile but it's better than nothing.

It should be automatic with service packs no? Unless he's on a spanking new version of Vista or XP he should have some restore points..

Press ctrl+alt+del twice in a row when on the welcome screen and you should be able to select it then...

    Control panel-->Administrative Tools-->Computer Management-->Local Users and Groups-->Users

You can try to delete the one you created from here.

That will solve your welcome screen problem. Should just auto login as before.

If you mess this up you're on your own.

    No pressure.

For the last step delete the folder for the admin account you created in

    C:\Documents and Settings\

    Nobody will ever know...

    except us of course.
