If two people are travelling and checking in ONE bag, is the weight restriction per bag or per passenger?

per passenger, if there's 2 of you flying you can combine the weight, i.e you have a 5kg bag and your partner has a 25kg bag

If you have paid for one bag, it is not per passenger but per bag. I got stung for this before flying to London because our bag was 16kg. They made us queue up to pay the €8 for the excess baggage even though two of us were travelling.

That was the last time I flew Ryanair, or will ever fly Ryanair.

Maybe it has changed because that was 2 years ago but in my experience, it is per bag not per person unless you pay for two bags.

Yes I avoid them as much as I can. Unfortunately, for where I am going I have no other choice.

You may not pool your baggage allowance with Ryanair. They're very clear about that. If one person has 5kg, and the other has 25kg, the second person will have to pay 10kg worth of excess baggage.

No pooling or sharing of baggage allowances is permitted, even within a party travelling on the same reservation.

So, per bag, the maximum allowance is 15kg. If you need more than that, bring a second bag.

I just used ryanair the other day, we had 2 bags booked, one what 10kg and the other 19.5kg, we didn't get charged anything extra as they were using the combined weight of the 2 bags which was under 30kg

It sounds like you were lucky. Personally, from past experience and what the website says I wouldn't take the risk. Not that I'll be flying Ryanair any time soon (unless they make a move to the Southern hemisphere and I wouldn't put it past them! )

Anyway, the OP here is only checking in ONE bag and wanted to know if the weight restriction is per bag or person. What you've said only applies if you've paid for TWO bags.

That's what I would think too. If I check in one bag Im only paying for 1x 15 kgs. Im sure if I paid for 2x15 kgs and only checked in one bag but it had 30 kgs in it, it would be ok.

Ryanair now allow you to bring 10kg onto the plane with you in a fairly sizeable bag (I think its 40*55*20 cm). Thats normally the size of a case I would bring as checked luggage.

So you could pay for one bag, fill that to 15kg & then bring 2 carry on bags each filled with 10kg giving you a total weight of 35kg!
Thats of course subject to the normal security provisions & certain items not allowed on board etc etc.

Im flying to Croatia with my partner & thats what we did.

OK another question. Total carry on allowance is 20 kg for two people. Can I stick this in one bag and double the dimensions of the size of the carry on. Am travelling with a two year old. I cant manage him, a buggy and two bags.

I'm afraid not, still has to be two bags. Apart from anything else, it would be difficult to fit a bag with double the dimensions in the cabin lockers anyway.

yes because you have to buy him/her a whole new ticket, own seat, same price as an adult.
