    Well what can I say.

What a day for a swim...The start was delayed due to a technical fault with the electronical timing system. Jayus it was hot standing around waiting to go. The start was from Waltling Street bridge to the Customs house just after Tara street Dart Bridge.

Over 200+ men entered this year and over 70+ women I think. Loud shouts from the crowd eagerly waiting to start..One swimmer got so bad waiting to start, he turned his swim hat inside out to pee in it(No names please) and then toss it over the wall!!!!

I'd like to say a BIG thanks to Joe Brown through the years and Swim Ireland. Joe has been there at all the sea swims organising the handicaps. Also a BIG thanks to Frank Carroll and Dave Farrell. Joe is retiring this year and wish him all the best. Also a BIG thanks to all the volunteers who helped out with todays events, from the safety boats and canoes...Especially a BIG thanks to, Bert O Brien (Legend).....

A BIG Congrats to Pat O Driscoll for winning it(Templeogue Club) and his son Daire O Driscoll who won fastest time...And a BIG thanks to Templeogue club for there hard work this open sea swim season....Padraic gray, Gabriel Byrne, Pat O Driscoll, Daire O Driscoll, David Hobson, Keith Fay to name a few....

The view you have of the city going under 11 bridges is amazing, especially O Connell Street bridge.....

    Can't wait till next year!!!!

Couldn't agree more. Fantastic day. Weather was great too. Well done to all who participated. The water looked really bad...I wouldn't sail in the liffey never mind swim in it:D...so fair play to all who braved it!!!
Is there a list of who came where available online yet?

Did you look at the water before you got in ? The mix is mostly sea water as there is very little river when the tide is out, however the sea water is coming in from the harbour laced with diesel and waste from the ships, while the river water is hardly what one would call fresh. That said it is the big swim of the season.
Congrats on your swim and I hope you were well placed. I agree with your praise for the officials and fellow swimmers who make it a big occasion I know Joe Browne will be badly missed for his good humoured banter and his tireless work.

Of course I looked at the water, strange question, could hardly miss it plus the empty cans of beer and twigs, leafs hehe. The Council as stated by the lord mayor has put huge effort into making the water more safer/cleaner.

Joe Browne will be a big loss...But i'm sure he will be at a few next year....
