Does anyone here use the iPhone as a game consol? With games like Assisns Creed, Madden 10 and Fifa 10 to be out soon does any one actually use it as a game consol and do you think it will be able to compete with the like of Nintendo DS or the PSP?

I for one have Madden and Assins Creed on the iPhone and i personly just dont think it works. The virtual pad just doesnt feel right for me. Although i do think Tiger Woods works well. It just doesnt feel right playing a proper game on the iPhone. Is it just me or do you disagree?

I know what you're saying alright OP. Downloaded the free version of Assassin's Creed and, though you get used to it after a while, it just doesn't feel right. I don't blame the devs, I think they did everything they could.

Some games work perfectly on the platform. The games I've seen work best are simple 'touch and drag' puzzles like Flight Controller, Unblock and Quordy ( really great games, and Unblock is free. So, so recommended) and are just wonderfully intuitive. The platform is a gift from the heavens for these games.

Others are not so good, but I think that's a combination of factors, not least being the abundance of crappy games, lacking in proper development and rushed out the door, in the app store.
