    hi all,

flights are the same price and hotels aswell

i am looking for peoples thoughts on:

    runs?
    nightlife?
    shopping? (the woman!)
    are they expensive?
how far they are from the airport?
hotel vs chalet? there could possibly be a group.

thanks for any help you give :D

I've only been to Saalbach but afaik Livigno is tax free so that would make it considerably cheaper than Saalbach for lots of things, bar obv the hotel and flights.

I've been to around six different European resorts over a 12 year period and Saalbach is by far the best place for runs I've been in. Your lift pass, again afaik, covers the entire Saalbach, Hinterglemm and Leogang areas (soon to be joined with Zell too, apparently). There are miles and miles of runs that you'd be hard pushed to cover totally, esp since you're a beginner but Saalbach should definitely be an option if you're willing to try a good amount of different slopes.
Nightlife is pretty good although I don't have much to compare it to because everywhere else I've been I was too young to sample it lol.
Shopping, I feel, in Saalbach is pretty average but I'm sure you could make a trip to Salzburg for a day because it's about 1.5 hours but I haven't done the shopping thing really so can't comment on it much.

As I've said, transfer time isn't too bad to Saalbach. I'm sorry I can't give you the other side of the coin but if you're looking for quality and quantity of runs I know nowhere else that can top Saalbach :)

I think Saalback would be the better resort overall but Livigno is great place for beginners...

    runs?
If your still on blue runs their is more than enough at either location to cover you. Livigno might be easier as they have huge wide open spaces and you can traverse easily between runs.

    nightlife?
Livigno has a good nightlife, lots of bars to choose from and they can pretty hectic. They also have a good nightclub with some interesting acts on Thursday night. I also know of this great Wine bar.. near enough one of the gondola lifts.

    shopping? (the woman!)
Its Tax free area so all shopping \ booze \ food is quite cheap. I never buy anything though apart from the odd piece of snow gear.

    are they expensive?
Tax Free area so relatively cheap

how far they are from the airport?
This is the killer, I think its about 4 hours

hotel vs chalet? there could possibly be a group.
Just do your research into the hotel and/or chalet. They all vary quite a lot, I stated in one "hotel" where the showers were large sinks in which you had to sit down in.. kinda funny at the time but it felt like it was out of 1800's
