Think it be nice to have a thread to show how small your pets were when you got them- and what they look like now

My kitten tilly- got him at 6 weeks- hes now 5 months old and the difference in him is amazing. Weird looking back at how small he was and how big hes gotten since then.:D

    Looking forward to seeing others

OMG () id nearly swear it was him!! No he died when I was 9ish, got hit by a car when we were on holidays, or so I was always told!! Don't suppose you got your fella when he was about 2 or 3 yrs old, Fluffys age would be about Ziggy's age right now and dad never particularly like him (wonders out loud!!)

Edited to say: Just noticed Ziggy is a she, there goes all my conspiracy theories of my poor old cat still being alive!!

Iv never seen another cat like our fluffy:( A few months before he 'died' he went on his own little holiday for about 3 months, he jumped in the kitchen window one morning like he'd never left, looked well fed aswel so we reckoned somebody took a likeing to him that had nicer food than us! He would've been 14 this summer, time flies still feels like yesterday!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,919 ✭✭✭ziggy23

Cats do wander off they're not very loyal animals at all! We have an 8 year old called Homer and you'd be lucky to see him from one end of the year to the other. Sometimes he goes by the window glances in and then goes off!!! There's a woman up the road feeding him so she obviously does better grub than us:rolleyes:
Oh I'll tell you a story. Last year we had a black cat in the garden all the time. He was very nervous at 1st but gradually let me pet him. He had a collar on with his name on it and address no tel no. The address was for Blancharstown and we live in Cabra so it was a fair few miles. My brother happened to live round the corner and knocked in at the address and told the guy we had his cat. Your man nearly dropped dead. The cat was missing for over a year:eek: We dont know how he got down to our house cos it's all busy motorways. He must have got in a car or something. Anyhow the guy was nearly crying when he was reunited with his cat:D So theres hope for fluffy maybe he hitched a ride somewhere!!!
    Sorry for the long post!!!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 365 ✭✭dee o gee

Don't suppose this black cat's name was Lucky was it?? He certainly was lucky, can't believe he still had his collar on after a year and he negotiated motorways must have been very streetwise, we used to go through a rack of collars when bunty was an outdoor cat, she used to lose them so quick, one nice blue one lasted only a day! She isin't streetwise at all, she used to sit at the side of the road watching cars, needless to say shes now an indoor cat, lost one to the road and won't lose another!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,919 ✭✭✭ziggy23

haha no he'd some strange name. Yea Homer and Tigger go through collars like theres no tomorrow. Ziggy doesn't really go outside anymore so she never loses hers:) check out this website http://blingpetcollars.com/

I have my kitty's christmas collars picked out already....too much time on my hands methinks:rolleyes:

Little Squash, just after I'd decided to keep him on after fostering for weeks.

    And Squash now:

His name is actually Sasquatch. He runs the rest of the cats. Even though he's half their size.

Squash is BEAUTIFUL!! Oh my goodness what a gorgeous boy :)

Here's Jake the day we got him, ~4 months old, tiredly snoozing on his bed (abandoned so we weren't prepared with a crate or even food & water dishes - hence the pots on the floor)

And not long after, sitting in the grass:

Here's Jake a couple days ago, 6.5 months old:

My rescue cat was about 5 months when I got him from DSPCA. He was 1.9 kgs. Now, 10 months later ( he was born in July-ish) he is 5.5 kgs! Vet tells me he hasn't stopped growing yet and is a healthy weight for a cat of his frame. He's adorable and sooo long with a really long tail but perfectly proportioned !He's similar in markings to the very cute ginger/white cat Tilly at the top of the page.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,658 ✭✭✭✭The Sweeper

Heh april99, he'll be fully grown at two years. Usually in the first 12 months they reach their maximum size, but in the second year they then fill out, putting meat on that frame. If he's 5.5 kgs at 10 months he may well hit 7-8kgs by the time he's full grown!

Got the eldest dog at 6 weeks. She was rescue lab/collie cross puppy and was such a small thing. She's now nearly 11 and has evolved from a small puppy that could curl up on your knee into a dog very slightly smaller than a labrador who thinks she can still curl up on your knee. Haven't noticed so much change in the other two (Jack Russell crosses) as they arrived with us when they were 2 years old and 1 year old respectively.
