QTX , QT7 pro on Snow Leopard

I ask this on behalf of my brother, who upgraded to 10.6 recently.

He has QT7 pro (purchased when he was running Leopard).

He says that when viewed via Safari (QT plugin, I guess) it appears that Safari is defaulting to QTX or, at least, not the pro features of QT.
He says he cannot save/download the video from within the QT interface and he also cannot adjust the volume as he could prior to upgrading.

Which version of QT is Safari 4 defaulting to when running Snow Leopard.
Also - can you configure Safari (on SnowLeopard) to use one version of QT over the other?

Quicktime PRo allegedly not available yet on Snow Leopard

May need to delete QTX to get QT7 functionality back
