My girlfriend and I are gonna be living apart this year. While living together our PCs were linked together by local network and we were able to share folders and files quite easily. We will both have good net connections in our new places and I am wondering if there is a good way of replicatiing the kind of network we had…

We will both have good net connections in our new places and I am wondering if there is a good way of replicatiing the kind of network we had when the computers were linked locally. Is setting up remote desktops the only solution or are there other options available?

You can use a VPN such as Hamachi. There is a free version of it available to download too.
