Second passport, both Irish!

    Hi all,
can anyone tell me if it's possible to apply for a second passport? I don't mean a replacement- I mean so I can have two copies of my passport!

I haven't seen a mention of it on the website and it seems as though when you fill out the forms you have to declare and return your existing passport.

I'm working in Germany and here it's possible- I don't know if the second 'copy' differs from the original in any way though. Before anyone asks, I'm not looking to sell it on the black market :P but rather I have been asked to provide one for work which would be kept there to allow travel at short notice, direct from the office!

To my best knowledge it's not possible in Ireland.

A friend of mine had two Irish passports, this was about 10 years ago though, I don't know if they still allow it.

The reason she had two was because she travelled a lot for work. She visited countries which require you to submit your passport to the Embassy to get visas, which could take weeks to process.

You can still get two passports. one will be a ten year and i think the second will be a three year.

not sure the process but a few friends have them for there work (need to travel and might need to send the second one off to get the next visa for his next detination or things like wokring in the middle east and has israili stamp in one)

best to go into the passport office.
