    Hi,
I currently have Sky + in my living room and a freesat box in the bedroom running from the same dish. Both are wired from the attic so i have no cables showing at all.
I'm thinking of getting Chorus tv and broadband deal with multiroom and HD.
Just wondering if Chorus can be installed similarly without disrupting the connection to the Sky + box? Don't want to uninstall it in case i ever want Sky again.
    Thanks,
    Patrick

Are you asking can you use the existing satellite co-ax cable?
Or do you mean is it possible to run lengths of cable to the chorus equipment, up to a junction box in the attic?

UPC Cable service is just a single coaxial cable coming in from outside. If your house isn't pre-wired for cable tv, it will typically be routed through a hole drilled in the wall or through a window ledge.

The cable terminates on an isolator box which is about the size of a double electrical socket.

If you have satellite grade cable running from your attic down to the TV, it might be possible to re-use one of those lines from the attic down. You'd need to have a chat with the installer on the day.

Their standard installations however, are just directly wired in.

It would also depend on where the cable tap is located i.e. in older areas, the cable typically runs along the facia boards just below roof level and the cable tap's often located up there. It looks like a metal box with several F-connector type sockets on it.

In newer build areas which had cable from the start, the tap may be underground in a vault out on the pavement, in this case there will be a duct running to your property.

The most modern installations also have a flush-fitted box, a bit like a small ESB meter cabinet, located on the front wall or side entrance of the house. This will be branded up Chorus or UPC and the cable enters here.

It varies depending on the infrastructure your your locality and the age of the house.

Also, unlike Sky+, cable television can operate multiple tuners with just one coaxial cable feed. Sky needs two because the satellite dish LNB switches polarity depending on which channel you're watching.
So, the UPC service will only need one coax line from your attic, if you want to reuse that.
