Hi New to this and was wondering what the reception is like in castlebar town and charlestown, Is a grid type UHF aerial and masthead amp ok for the job and whats the cheapest stb out there. Any reports on reception in mayo or are we relying on Truskmore and need a large aerial.
Friend in charlestown area has terrible rte and tv3 reception on the old system

Thanks in Advance for any advice that may help

In Castlebar town itself most aerials are pointing at the Croaghmoyle relay transmitter (no TV3 and no DTT in the near future) a deflector in roughly the same direction is providing a (poor) TV3 signal

In some parts of the town reception of Truskmore (or sometimes Maghera or even Cairnhill) is possible but a second aerial is needed

Charlestown should have a decent enough signal from Truskmore (or failing that Cairnhill)

Im in Ballinrobe south mayo and im very lucky as i have a UHF grid aerial pointing at Castlebar and Truskmore sits right behing it so Im getting all Analouge, plus deflector, plus TV3 and DTT from Truskmore!
