Im a 3rd level student currently studying business, Im in my 3rd year of a 4year course. I want to do a masters and I also want to do my Hdip. Which would be better to do first? Can anyone explain the points system that everyone is taking about in the Hdip entry? How can you fullfill points? Would an I.T. masters effect my points?

    Thanks..:D

The H.Dip is now called the PGDE

Points for business are higher than other subjects because of the quota

There is a new points system for entry to the PGDE from 2010 on

    http://www.pac.ie/pgdeinfo/PointsCalc.php?inst=pe

With the extra points needed for business you may need the 6 points a masters would give you to gain entry. You can do the masters in anything.

If you are starting third year now and if you finish your degree in june 2011 and your masters in june 2012, you cannot use the 6 points for entry to the PGDE in september 2012. You can only use those points for september 2013 PGDE entry at the earliest.

After 2010 you will no longer be able to use teaching experience for points like you could before.

There are no points for the PGDE in Trinity College Dublin. Entry is based on interview but it is very competitive.

I think there's other Graduate Diplomas in education too that are outside the points system
