    Hi ,
I've currently got Sky+ and sky multiroom ( standard box).
I want to upgrade the standard box to Sky+.
What is the easiest and cheapest option to do this?
I have seen Sky+ boxes (new) advertised for €100 from online shops ( irish based).

    Any help appreciated
    Thanks

To upgrade to Sky+ is 199 + 50 for install.

Would you not consider swapping out the STD box to HD? It would cost 99 and have your Sky+ relocated to the secondary room? It does have a sub of 14.75 per month, and is most value to you if you have programming like Sports, Movies, or the Knowledge pack, as these are abselutely amazing in HD.

Otherwise, you can source a Sky+ and re-pair the card when you have it installed. Dont forget you need a second cable for the Sky+ but there are loads of Engineers on here who would do it at a reasonable rate.

Just be careful when getting the Sky+. There is a link at the top of the page here for Adverts.ie or try eBay.

    Hi,
    Thanks to Wizard007.

Just to clarify , i can just buy a second sky+ box and then its just a matter of pairing the existing card in the (current)standard box to this new Sky+ box.
Does this pairing have to be done by an engineer or is it posible to do my self ?

    Thanks

The cheapest option is to buy a box yourself and find an engineer to do the extra cable for you if you're not able to do it yourself.

To re-pair the card, simply put it in the slot ( not interactive slot, the slot inside the drop down door at the front ) then make sure your phone line is connected to the box, click services, system set up, 0 1 select, new installation, and follow instructions from there. It's straight foward enough and only takes a few minutes.

    :)

You'll still have to ring sky to pair the card after the call back has been successful.

hi folks, without opening a new thread, i'd like to ask about Sky+. I have a standard sky box with one satellite cable coming in the wall and into the box. I only want to upgrade to a Sky+ box for the optical out connection on the sky box so that i can connect it into my surround system for better sound when watching tv... the standard sky box has no optical output for this, just a scart out. So, can i just buy a sky+ box off ebay and not bother with any new satellite cable? i don't care about recording to disk or any of that... i'm only interested in the improved sound.

    thanks !

Yes you can do that, just buy a second hand one on E-BAY and then pair it up to your card as above.
