What's the best way to set up an Irish NGO?

I was just wondering whether there are options or not in regard to setting up Irish NGO's? It would be registered in Ireland but would work in projects abroad. Do I just register as an Irish charity and go from there? I'm just starting to research it, so any advice/comments would be appreciated.

    Forever yours,
    The Good Kid.

A nongovernmental organisation is a different thing to a registered charity. An organisation may be both, but not necessarily.

Have a search for the Charities Act 2008 (or 09), and commentary on it - it states the current position on charities. Also have a look for charity representative organisations - theres one in Ireland (called The Wheel i think) that gives info and advice to these types of groups.

This is an entrepreneurship forum though, so most people here wouldn't be looking at running organisations that aren't designed to make profit - there may be better fora on boards like social sciences or perhaps one connected with whatever you hope your organisation is going to do.
