Im just wondering does anyone see espn adding another channel to their list, why im asking because espn have rights to the german soccer but they cant show most matches because of the EPL.

Perfect example is bayern v dortmund is shown at 9.45pm on saturday night, whats the point of buying the rights if you cant show matches like the above live ?

They badly are in need of a second channel. How many Portuguese games have they shown live?

In this case the contract should be stripped away from them. I mean why would you buy the rights to something and then not bother to show the games.

I got ESPN last month because they had 2 Liverpool games in the 31 day period. Also, there was a €7 credit so the net cost to me was €5. Once the 31 days is up then it's bye bye. Very little on offer bar the Premiership. The HD offering is worse - most programming is in SD. If they manage more than 1 Liverpool game in any given month then I'll sign up for that period - otherwise it's not really worth it.

Would they not require a months notice for cancelling?

Me and a few mates were going to watch the Spurs/Man U match in a pub today, we couldnt find 1 pub out of 10 that also had sky sports that have ESPN. Ended up coming home and watching it on Cyfra+

That is quite odd. I thought ESPN was included with Sky Sports on the pub subscription.

The only 2 things I dont like about espn is the picture quality on upc and the fact that they show a couple of programmes in 4:3, besides that I think the channel is great. Has anybody heard anything about them getting the fa cup? I see sky got the guinness premiership but is there another rights package for it?
Also, anything on NBA, IPL cricket or Non-League football? Iread about these here; http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/8233991.stm

Just noticed that they have espn.ie now.

Are you sure? Well one of the pub owners showed me the ESPN channel and it had the blue screen to say you need upgrade.

They had a commerical sub as well (Pint glass in the corner)

Not 100% sure actually. When I subscribed I was told that I had to keep in for minimum of 31 days. I'll find out later in the month!

How much does it cost to subscrib to channel 417 - ESPN on the sky plus box in th Rep of Ireland. Is it €10 or €12 or €15?

It is €12 if you subscribe to Skysports 1 and/or Skysports 2. (That is a recent change, you used to have to subscribe to both to get this price) and €16 per month if you are just a standard subscriber(ie no premium channels)

Folks I am about to subscribe to ESPN for a while. My team is featured in October a few times.

I phoned the number provided on website 0818762808. I enquired about whether I could get the €7 credit applied over the phone. He said that was only a UK thing and no discount applied in Ireland. This was an Irish guy in the Ireland call centre I spoke to. I insisted there shud be a discount he said no. At that point I made my excuses and fobbed him off!

Plan to try and subscribe online now. Any one successfully done that and got the €7 credit etc..????

    thanks

I tried to upgrade online back in August, it looked like nothing was happening after a few days so I rang, told the phone operator what happened and he was able to give the credit back on my account. It is for all subscribers, so you were right to fob him off.

You order via customer service (I think) been a couple of months since I done it but I am pretty sure it was customer service that I subscribed to ESPN through.

The €7 credit only applies for online orders, however they seem to pass it on to telephone orders where the customer is having 'difficulty' with their website...;)

I ordered it through the red button a couple of hours ago. Transaction went smoothly-it said upgrade would take up to 12 hours. If I don't get it by Friday I'll ring 'em.

Just an update to advise that I had to ring Sky eventually. They processed it and applied the credit.

Its because Irish viewers need setanta, its uk ESPN only. Apparently anyway, says on soccer forum. I suggested trying to tune in ESPN UK on other channels but doubt it works.

There is only ESPN. No different versions of Ireland and the UK. Which is a load of balls.

    So my vaguely stupid idea of tuning in to these? 12304 H, 27500 2/3 or 12344 H 29500 3/4 didn't work.

    Oh, well.
