Hi folks, got the stacker/destacker installed! Seems fine! Have 90% quality on both inputs on indicator. Got a Pace 9F3003 HD box, seems fine. Possbily a little quieter than the Thomson but very little in it, picture looks good. Just watching tennis in HD. Two little issues so far, I recorded Home and Away earlier and towards end of recording, I got a message saying "recording interrupted due to loss of signal". Flicked for a second and was fine then. Hope this isnt a stacker related issue, ill record a few more programmes and see how it goes!!! One more thing, Sky Sports News, there is slight flicker on the edges of the one of information bars. This definintely isnt on Thomson box, so there you go! Thanks for all your help on stacker/destacker issue. I hope it works out, but proof will be in successful recordings.

I presume resolution for HD is 1080?

I often used Stacker/Destackers and never ran into any problems....so I would recommend them....would be nice if sky would develop a box with built in..maybe charge a little more for it...would open the door for a load more installs me thinks...

I think optical lnb's will open the way for this.

Im on old EPG, I presume I just wait for new EPG or can I do a manual download. Was talking to sky tech support when pairing card and they said Ill have to wait, they will write to me. I hope I dont get lost in system because I had a Thomson HD box already and they might think im done already as they wrote to me already!!

If you have a pace Hd box which Im presuming you do then u dont need to wait for the new epg do a forced software update and it will download it 4 u

    To do this

Unplug the box for 2 minutes.

Locate and hold the backup button located on the top of the hd box...
Keep it pressed and return the power to the box...do not let go...

After about 40seconds all the lights will light up on the front of the box and it will display a message on screen telling you its updating....leave it till its done and it will reboot with new epg...

    Well, that's a problem right there . . . -:P

In future steer clear of dodgy programming and you should be OK.

There are 2 different makes of Stacker/Destacker

    johansson stacker destacker

One for all Stacker Destacker...much better in my opinion.

Why is it that you always recommend the one for all stacker over the johansson one?
Did you have a bad experience?

    Hi people,

i live in communal flats with a communal satelite. In their wisdom the developers only provided one feed into the property. What i would like to know is can i use the stacker/destacker indoors next to each other? Reason being i cant actually touch any of the outside wiring as other flats feed off it.
So my plan is a..... feed coming into the house via the wallsocket and then stack it and destack it all within a short distance within the box...will this work?

In a comunal System it is highly unlikely that you will be able to use a Stacker/Destacker unit for the following reasons. You cannot stack the unit with one feed...you need 2 feeds coming from the multiswitch located in the plant room of your building

    therefore....

    1. You will need access to the plant room.
    2. You would need a spare slot on the multiswitch ....highly unlikely...
    3. If you move out you would need to take the equipment back out.

Untrained personal would not be allowed anywhere near the multiswitch in the first place...so could be a costly install if possible..

Well, if you have a compatible receiver, you could use an Invacom SCR adaptor as mentioned here. You will need access to the existing multiswitch in your dwelling, you then feed 4 outputs into the SCR, which takes those and produces 4 outputs + 1 Single-Cable-Router feed which goes to your apartment. If you have a compatible digibox, then it can access two feeds over the one cable.

Sorry for delay in response, the stacker I installed was a Global 30m model, made by Global Invacom, 55 euro plus VAT from Armstrong Satellites, contact details in sticky at top of page. Very good value.

Haven't been really able to test it out as my sky has been down since last Thursday. For some reason my sky viewing card became unauthorised, sky told me sky system had reverted to my old viewing card that I had thrown out two months ago. Why this happened is beyond me, this new box would have never seen this old card .Basically there was nothing they could do, they had to send me a new one. I am yet to receive it, I hope to get it today or tomorrow at latest. Basically Im down to free to view channels only. I don't know why this happened, worked fine for one night last Thurs then got this error message last Friday morning. Not sure if it was anything to do with me performing a manual download of the new EPG on my new pace HD box?
