I'd say under 30 for a woman and over 30 for a man. IMHO There's defo a gender diff if you want to have kids. Otherwise, whenever age suits, though the older we get the more set in our ways many become. I think men are worse for that. I see it in mates of mine. Many are quite inflexible after say 35.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

    I said 26-30...
It's nice to have your early twenties to have fun, before you settle down.

When you want children, if you meet the right person.

In airy fairy fantasy land. I'd like that to happen at 35.

30 seems like a good age, then again it depends if it's a good time.

Over 30 for men and under 16 for women, that's how it was in biblical times and we all know they where much better people than us horrible modern people.

You can get common-law marriage status if you live with someone for long enough I think but there are a bunch of other boxes that need to be ticked for it too afaik and even then it would probably be a pain in the ass to sort out. Quick trip to the registry office would be far easier I'd imagine.

I seem to remember Aristotle recommended 18/19 for a woman and 37/38 for a man as he reckoned they would be compatible physically and mentally and reproductively. Though chances are he was 38 at the time and wanted to get the leg over a local lass of 18.

    I suppose from a technical fertility point, 16 - 20 for a woman and 25 - 30 for a man. That's around the time both peak hormonally.

Maybe the best time to consummate the marriage but girls where more or less sold into marriage much younger and then I guess it was up to the husband to decide when he wanted to do the deed. And we look to these people for moral guidance.

    do poll... :)

First do as much as you can do as a single person that you will not be able to do as a married person, then yr ready to get married, if you don't you will end up just getting a divorce any way

For the general public, there's no good age. And there's no bad age.

I just never intend getting married.

It all depends on the situation you're in. I would say before 30 for me personally.

Same goes for kids. I don't want to wait later than 30 if I can help it.

Whatever age suits best depending on the situation, but I think getting married before 24 is a bit daft.

The only thing you can't do as a married person that you can as a single person is get married. Why should your life suddenly stop just cos you've signed a contract?

I think they are bringing something in to allow this soon.
I ****ing hope anyway. I just don't agree with marriage. It's an outdated concept. It's now just a thing to do. More power to you if you have the ring on the finger. I've been going out with my OH for six years and we've talked about it a lot and both decided we just don't want the marriage. Don't like the concept.

Civil partner ship is not the same as common law spouse, civil partnerships have to be legally registered where as for common law spouse you just have to be co habiting for a certain number of years.
