I think their was a thread awhile back about this but wondering what compensation have people gotten from the rewiring/upgrade thats on at the moment when they have to add extra cables, boxes, digging trenches etc

There's timing for you. Ntl/UPC want to install a box on the side of my house and they came along and offered "half price on the basic tv". I asked them to explain EXACTLY what that was and they said "half off the analog feed"! I said I don't use the analog but am on digital but no dice. The only offer was/is the analog.

I'm holding out and their box still sits in a van somewhere. Maybe free 20MB broadband or something like that :)

Friend of mine got a free phone line to run a cable from their roof to a pole, which is a bit pointless and they both have company mobiles..

Whatever they do offer, make sure you get a letter confirming the offer.

You will get the the price of 50% analogue off your bill(even if you have DTV) for as long as the amp is on your house. The amps are fairly small, if you don't take it they will find someone else who will.

Know where else they can go, im the last house on the run. I think they want to trench across to another loop about 30metres away, because they have about 30m coiled up hanging from the house, so im guessing they want to come down the side wall

Half price analogue is useless to me on digital.

But if your on a digital subscription, you don't pay for analogue. Do they just offer half any basic package? Im guessing they wont half 'digital+' or do an offer on hd

Like I said Davy its around 13 quid off your bill, well 12.25 to be exact it doesn't matter that your digital customer. Say your on basic digital @20 a month after you get the concession your bill will be 7.75. If the cable only feeds yourself and a few neighbours they may not offer anything, it also depends on what they have to do on your property. If your road proves too difficult to re-cable they will put it in a status know as LOC (they will leave the old cables in place)and you won't be able to avail of broadband and phone when the upgrade is completed either that or they will dig around you.

Ye well that clears it up a bit then, wouldn't make sense if it was just off analogue. How long do they take the 12.25 off the bill? Thought more people would have encountered this since so many areas are being covered.

The new cables are already run, but where the old ones finished at me, they seem to want to go across the house, around the side, and down in the ground, across 30m and back up to the next road.
