No phone line + no UPC - what are my options?

    I have just moved to Dublin 7 and UPC is not available in the area. I tried to get Eircom to put in a phone line but they came to install in our apartment this morning and said its not possible to put in a phone line.

    We have been also told we cant put anything on the outside of the building like an aerial.

    What are my BB options now?

    Digiweb Metro or IBB on a balcony ( if it faces the right way) because the aerial is not 'fixed' to the building itself .

    Aerial attached to the railings is about your only hope. That's if you have a balcony, with railings, are facing the right direction and have coverage.

    Failing that, you're looking at a sub-par midband service like Ripwave, Clearwire or one of the 3G options. None of which are much good for anything, and also depend on having good coverage.

    Did eircom give a reason for not installing the line?

    Is there anyway of me knowing if it faces the right way or is it just a case of getting them in to see?

    I have an O2 mobile at the mo but the problem is the cap doesnt allow me to do much. I've heard a lot of bad things about clearwire and ripwave though :(
