Stocking Lane hedge maze

I never saw myself ever coming up with a thread title like that, and this will be of no interest whatsoever except to those who cycle around South DUblin/Wicklow, but...

Messing around on Google Maps just there, I found what appears to be a hedge maze just at the top of Stocking Lane, just behind the "ice cream van" car park at the intersection with Cruagh Road. It's pretty clear in the 'Satellite' view mode. It certainly can't be seen when you're on the road itself, and I can't see an obvious "big house" to which it might be attached. Anyone notice this before / own it?

I've spotted it before on Google maps and looked for it when up there, but never seen it as there's a mini 'ridge' just behind the car park.

Must wander over it to have a look some day.

I think this was maze built by Raam to lose slow freds after the "stoking lane climb test''... The cake is over there, go find it. Then he'd cycle off to never see the sh!t cyclist again...

Doesn't look like there's any hedges inside the maze, just an outline of paths.

There's a garden outside roundwood that has loads of weird religious iconography, but I've never been in it. Anyone know if this is it?

OK, who's going to be the first to grab pics of this maze? I suspect that its long been dug up and what we're seeing is only the old outline of where the hedges were planted.

That looks like your garden in question alright, I notice that Victoria's Sculpture (Lady)garden (pfft, snort) has now been rebranded as 'Indian Sculpture' in recent times. I've never quite been tempted to break my journey home with a visit though.

Checked out that maze today behind Stocking Lane, looks like it was set out a few years ago with high fencing all round and mesh wire then inside to set out the passages. However it hasn't been touched in years with nettles and grass taking over the place and there's no discernible hedges with only a few small trees growing in the centre. There's larger trees around the perimeter just inside the fencing and these are even blocking the one locked gate entrance. The maze itself is very small so hard to imagine the purpose behind it initially.

Conclusion, not worth getting off the bike to investigate as it's just like looking into a small overgrown garden nursery.

was that your black bike locked to the gate today then?

It was indeed, an MTB that I use as still doing research on road bikes to purchase. Left it at the second gate up from the ice cream truck as thought there was an entrance to the maze from the little forest track but then had to cross through some trees and a ditch to get to the maze. The first gate behind the ice cream truck is the real entrance for those interested.
