Electronic Engineering - Teaching Council recognising Science/Physics

    Hi,

Just wondering if there is anyone out there with an Electronic Engineering degree that is recognised to teach physics / science.
I have a degree from ucd and am amazed that they will not recognise physics out of this course.
I am considering quering it with the teaching council but am looking to find out what my chances are that they will find in my favour.
I was looking at the form and it says that it is €1000 euros to query something like this - is this right? I had heard about €300 maybe but €1000???!!!

Any advice /information is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    D

the electronic engineering degree from kevin street allows you to teach physics, maths and computer studies.

electronic engineering degrees seem to differ in what they allow a graduate to teach. For example Tallaght IT's degree in electronic engineering allows a graduate to teach maths only.

Check out the other electronic engineering degrees on www.teachingcouncil.ie and click the box titled 'list of recognised qualifications (post-primary)'

I think the €1,000 is for colleges to get a degree recognised. I think it's €200 for individuals but I could be wrong.

For individuals it used to be €150 for the first subject and €75 for the second.

    Thanks for that pathway.

I will try and go and talk to teaching council directly about the fees.
I didn't know about the kevin street electronics being recognised for physics...I hadn't looked at that one but had looked at another few.

I interested to know has anyone paid to query it with the teaching council?

    Thanks.
