    Hello,

I believe that Google factors in the physical location of your server when ranking searches. For example if I have my site about flowers hosted in Ireland and someone searches for "flowers" in Ireland my site will be pushed further up the rankings.

Firstly does having a .ie name improve this moreso or would a .com name hosted in Ireland have the same effect.

Secondly, assuming I wanted to target my website to a UK audience also, is there a way to host my site in the UK also so as to improve searches on a google.co.uk search? Is it possible to have the same site hosted by servers in 2 countries to improve rank in both?

If I am likely to sell more products to the UK market would it make sense to have my hosting there even if I was based in Ireland?

    Thanks

Why not buy the .co.uk of the web domain you have the .ie for? It would be the sensible thing to do for starters if you are looking to deal with the UK.

Yes you are correct with the server location and country domain, both will help push your ranking higher but is only part of the SEO work involved with about 3/4 more SEO work to push your site further. I would slightly change the site written language / content so both don't get red flagged by Google (ie like spam). You will need to keep both sites active with content every few weeks to boot.

    Thanks,

Assuming .com based in ireland was the main website (with the .ie name redirecting to the .com) would their be any advantage to having the .co.uk version hosted in the UK selling more or less the same stock?

Would this offer much of an advantage over having a .co.uk name which redirected to the main .com one in terms of google rankings in the UK?

There is much more competition for the product in question in the UK so having an advantage in the google ranking there would be a plus.

    Thanks
