Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus

Has anybody else seen this yet? The trailer has been out for ages but I watched the full thing last night and it's much better than your usual standard B movie fair, mainly because the Shark vs. Plane scene is even better than you could imagine. Other than that it has awful Japanese acting, a dodgy Irish accent, equal parts Cork and Finglas and an over the top military guy who disregards his scientists. Definitely worth a watch

Couldn't tolerate it enough to watch it start to finish. I can tolerate B but this is well and truly C!

    Brilliant!

The Guardian ran an article on the company who churn these out - needless to say the title is the starting point. The average budget is 1 million dollars I think.

Could this replace Boa versus Python as the ultimate Vs movie?

Is that the one with David Hewlett (Stargate Atlantis and Cube)? That's definitely a better movie overall but it lacks the epicness of Mega Shark and no scene is as good as the plane scene. In this film they clearly used all the budget on one or two scenes and alot of other ones look awful but Boa vs Python was very consistent in terms of the generated snakes

At least in Boa v Phyton they had 2 hot looking chicks...
<snip>(Mega Shark) but reading all the comments on imdb just puts me off :D

Why would anyone want to see it for free even?

If it were Ultra-Squirrel vs. Terra-Donkey, that would be a different matter.

I watched half of it last night but fell asleep. At times it looks quite good but the special effects are dire to the point they're amassing. The CSI style lab scenes are some of the greatest moments in cinema history. It's like they had a list of things they wanted to happen in the film and quickly jump into these scenes no matter how improbable or unlikely. A true B movie masterpiece. Will watch the rest of it tonight.

I love the way they use the same **** renderring of the shark swimming, ocassionally mirroring it but never ever a new animation

I cant wait to see it, i love cheesy B movies. Flight of the Dead was equally awesome.

My only flaw with the clip shown is the external shot shows a Boeing 747 and the internal shot looks more like a 737.

Flight of the Living Dead was a good movie though that kept nicely within its means. Asylums films involve hollywood scripts with z-grade production values. The funny thing is that Asylum make some very good original films - I thought King of the Ants and Killers were really great. Even some of their cheaper films that rely more on prosthetics/make up are pretty decent, like Hillside Cannibals. Their cash-ins/epic films that involve CGI are just predictably horrendous and form the bulk of their releases.

it's nice to see the wings on a 747 in the correct postion for flight
most films just show them with flat wings, which is how they look when they are grounded.

Even the Harrison ford movie Air Force One got that bit wrong

I agree about the interior shot though..
the groom to be should be in the middle row of seats in a 747 so he can't see out a window:o

The Irish guy in it is actually Irish his accent was to normal to be a fake one, it's all the lassie stuff that makes it sound fake.
