Who Do You Prefer Week 13, (a la flahavaj) - WWE or the alternatives (any of them!)

Gerard C won't be online for a few days and asked me to do this weeks version of the game. I may not be on tomorrow so I'm throwing it up tonight instead of the usual Thursday evening time.

I thought I'd try something a little different. Basically, do you prefer WWE or other the many alternatives out there. Basically if you prefer watching any one or TNA, ROH, other indies, Japanese, lucha libre or any non WWE companies vote for the non-WWE option. I expect good reasons to be given on either side.

While I know a good number of regular posters are staunchly WWE only fans, i know that there are a fair few who'll vote non WWE. I think this one could lead to some lively debate especially if people say why they've never warmed to the alternatives or vice versa.

Who do you prefer - WWE, or the non-WWE alternatives? 19 votes

    WWE only for me!

I watch alot of the alternatives and WWE regularly so I'm happy on all fronts, i take what i want from each, no offence to anyone in particular but I can't stand any staunch WWE supporters who watch WWE and dont particularly enjoy it but stand up for it no matter what and dismiss the alternatives with little or no experience of them because they feel they can only be loyal to the WWE

shouldn't you have 3 options, wwe only, wwe and alternatives and finally alternatives only, i fit into the middle category ;)

Pretty obvious that I'm going to go with alternatives but it's not exclusively because of TNA. Dragon Gate just blew me away with two hours of awesomeness that was so damn awesome, my awesome meter exploded. While I don't agree with much of the ROH style, they can produce so classic matches. After watching the Chikara match on the DG show, I have to check out more of that stuff as it's a brilliant blend of high spots, faced paced wrestling and technical wrestling.

I never understand how anybody can just stick exclusively to WWE as that would bore the hell out of me to stick with the same stuff week in, week out and only occasionally getting a classic. Of course TNA is the main reason I'm voting for the alternatives. At the end of the day, I'm a wrestling fan, not just a WWE fan or just a TNA fan so I like to dabble in all kinds of wrestling.

It's not a question of what you watch, it's a question of what you prefer :)

As orestes said its which you PREFER, if you had to choose watching one over the other which would it be?

I'm sure there have been wrestlers presented as options in earlier weeks where you loved both, but you still would have picked one over the other. Same applies here. I wasn't gonna mess with the honourable Ger's format anyway.:pac:

    I prefer WWE.

My Internet connection is muck. I don't to see anything regularly that isn't on Sky. So its WWE or TNA.

TNA gives me a pain in the Head.

WWE I have always enjoyed. RAW can be frustrating when you see guys like Swagger ignored. I would prefer a mix of entertainment and Wrestling. But overall I still enjoy RAW. Smackdown and ECW always deliver something worthwhile from a wrestling only point of view.

Now when ROH used to be the wrestling channel I used to enjoy it but sometimes it looks like someone was going to be killed so I still prefered WWE.

Pretty much this. I will watch ROH some times and I am mildly keen on PWG but thats enough grappling for me. :)

i don't prefer one over another, sometimes wwe will have better shows than others, sometimes not, its not really comparable, wwe have so much stuff compared to say tna, but i much prefer live tna shows, tnas impact is horrible for the most part, wwe houseshows terrible but their ppvs all normally quite good, SD is excellent, while raw can be pretty hard to watch, roh ppvs can be good to great, i wasn't a big fan of rohs tv show if truth be told, only been to one roh show and it was good but i enjoyed tnas show in january more, not to forget the indies here awr put on a great live show

A fine question not that I'd expect anything from a man of you calibur
(I'm filling in for Flahavaj this week while hes busy doings Gers job)

Currently I'm only watching WWE so I'll go with that even though my heart still belongs to WcW

    WWE

It just tends to be better than its competition for longer and even if RAW sucks (like at the moment) SD and ECW are still very entertaining.

Don't like ROH and TNA are their own worst enemy. Don't really see much new Japanese stuff, but from what I've read it has fallen a long way from the heights of 90s AJPW.

I only get to experience WWE and TNA as they are on mainstream tv. I watch them both every week but would prefer WWE hands down.

I'm probably watching more WWE these days, simply because it's easier to stumble across it on the tv without planning to, but I enjoy other promotions more, mainly New Japan. WWE has their formula that works for them, it's just that I don't particularly like that formula. I prefer matches that have a bit more thought put into them, and there's also a huge amount of worthless segments on WWE shows

I'll be voting for WWE in this one. I watch all, TNA, SmackDown!, Raw and ECW. I think that the wrestling on TNA is better than WWE at the minute, but WWE has better promos. You can't beat Santino, Jericho, Ziggler, DX, Orton etc. TNA only really have Angle..maybe MCMG, Abyss aswell but theres no comparison IMO between the two in terms of mic skills.

Sound as a pound on a Friday night, Flahavaj.

I went for WWE in this one, I just feel that their best matches, for me, are more entertaining and innovative to watch back on.

Great choices by Flahavaj I must say, in my absence. Go raibh mile maith agat, mo chara.

    WWE gets my vote.

Firstly, the success of the WWE allows the production values to absolutely tower over anything else on the market today. WWE shows just look a better product.

Secondly, all my memories of wrestling growing up are of the wwf/wwe, so I dont really feel the connection with any of the other alternatives. I'v tried to get into tna, but it just annoyed me.

Thirdly, while I enjoy watching a good technical match, which most of the indies do better than wwe, I am not bothered tuning in week in week out for technical skill. I get that fix of dailymotion/youtube.

That said, the way Raw has been lately I dont know why I tune week in week out for anything.

I went for the alternatives even though I am watching more WWE now than what I have in years. My staples are ROH and PWG, and I also dabble with some Japanese stuff from Dragongate and NOAH.

Main reason I would say is I do not like short matches unless they serve a purpose other than being short for TV time. The above mentioned promotions rarely have a 3-4 minute match, while WWE sometimes even has these on their PPVs.

So a 2:1 ratio for the WWE fans. More votes for the alternatives than I thought, so I'm claiming a moral victory!

I'm going to step down from doing this, don't have the time really and haven't sorted internet out yet for college. Many thanks to everyone who voted and helped the polls to be the success they were. If anyone wants to continue it they're more than welcome. Thanks again!

I might throw a few up for the craic if I remember if thats alright?
