    Hi all,

I have a Bank of Ireland cheque for €1500. I need to bring it to a bank and lodge it in an AIB account. I need to know how long it will take to clear. Does anyone know?

    Thanks,
    Jeff

Is there any way to speed it up?

Unfortunately not, although depending on your account with the AIB, they may let you draw on it before it clears.

Take it to the branch it was issued?

Cash it in the branch it was drawn from?

Unfortunately, I live too far away from the issuing bank.

No worries. Thanks for all your replies.

that's inconvenient alright :( Although as toots* says some banks in Ireland will credit your account immediately and 'reserve the right' to debit the money if the cheque bounces. I've used this a few times and its saved me the 5 working day wait.
