    Hey all,

    This is a REALLY stupid question, but i cant remember how to do this. I obviously never spent enough time juggling equations..

    if we have:

    F=6(pi)G r

    Find the formula for G.

    If we divide by G we get

    F/G = 6(pi)r

    But then what? i dont think you can divide both sides by F?

    Thanks, and sorry for this,

    _Kar

    So, you have [latex]\displaystyle\mbox{F} = 6\pi\mbox{Gr}[/latex], and you want to isolate G? All you have to do is divide both sides by [latex]\displaystyle\mbox{6}\pi\mbox{r}[/latex], which will give you [latex]\displaystyle\frac{F}{6\pi\mbox{r}} = \mbox{G}[/latex]. Of course this is only true if the question is asking you to find an expression for G/isolate G.

    It's the simple things which catch us out most.

    No problem.
