Ireland got a tough group, some of the groups look ridiculous! At least we'll have some samba darts from the Brazilians!:D

certainly did get a tough one, can't see the dutch losing a leg let alone match.

Malaysia, Cayman Islands, Italy and Turks and Caicos (is that even a real place) looks a strong group.

Some of those groups are hilarious :)

funny old groups alright but if it means seeing new players emerge it would be great.doesnt matter if there from finland, trinidad or wherever.

just out of interest will the bahamas team be wearing sunglasses and shorts and all that jazz when playing.could do worse than a tropical entrance too with bongos aswell.

Good luck to them all. Angela Deward was in my local a few years back. She won the mixed doubles on the night but i bet her in the mens singles (she also entered). Had a write up in the local paper also. Goos to see she is still playing.

thats a good performance by both, especially the republic. meaney and ryan in the final now.

  • Registered Users Posts: 945 ✭✭✭padr81

mc closkey and finnan both through their first round games. Mccloskey has to play john elder form NI in 2nd round (is it just me or does he always draw players from the republic in every event.) and finnan plays another NI player in Gary Elliot. Daryl Gurney won his first game 4-0 too.

Connie Finnan through to the last 32 to play Martin Phillips, Martin McCloskey also through to last 32 to play Ross Montgomery. Gurney is out!

  • Registered Users Posts: 945 ✭✭✭padr81

both through now. good win for finnan against martin philips. good month for finnan and mccloskey.

  • Registered Users Posts: 945 ✭✭✭padr81

finnan and mccloskey now in the last 8. Paddy Meaney was beaten in semi's by Jamie Lewis.

  • Registered Users Posts: 945 ✭✭✭padr81

Finnan now into the semi's after a 5-2 win but McCloskey was beaten 5-1 by Tony O'Shea, would of being nice to have an all irish final. We could win this thing now with the way its shaping up, only Ten Berge left for Netherlands and all Canadians are out.

both irish women are in the last 8 of there comp too.

Brilliant stuff, the Irish team have been excellent so far. It shows that there is some real quality in this country at the moment.

Connie Finnan in the semi final against Joey ten Berge! C'mon Finnan!

  • Registered Users Posts: 206 ✭✭vindaloo1

Hard luck Paddy Meaney, lost his boys semi-final.
At least he has the youths pairs final tomorrow with Aoife Ryan.

Presumably Connie's game is tomorrow on stage.

    Pairs up next.

A good run in them, and as padr81 said, Ireland could win it out.

Great performance by the Irish players so far in all events. Connie Finnan after a great september, quarter finalist in the World Masters and now in the semis of the World Cup. If he wins the World Cup this would surely get him a place in the Lakeside line up? Also well done to Martin McCloskey on reaching the quarter finals following up on his qualification for Lakeside.

  • Registered Users Posts: 206 ✭✭vindaloo1

    The pairs went pear shaped.

Finnan lost his singles semi too.

On the bright side, Elder and Gurney in the mens pairs final.
