    Hi everyone.

I am a 24yr old female and my hair is falling out. I have a bald patch on the right side of my head and my hair is so so thin

When I went to the doctor, she said it was caused by stress, but I not stressed now, so why is it still fallen out ? I never used hair strengtheners or blow dryer. Can anyone recommend hair treatments of someting for my hair or has anyone had this prob too?

    Thanks
    E

Can i suggest going back to you doctor and talking to them about your concerns. Explain to him that there is no stress and ask him can he look into it further.

hey maybe ask your doc to check your bloods, I know that a lack of phosphorus can cause hair loss! and i think the best source is bananas!

I had the same thing a few months ago- everyone says stress but i think its just b/s cos they dont know what causes it. I had two perfectly bald patches each slightly bigger than a 2 euro coin. I know mine was also hereditory as my mum sometimes gets the same.

I tried loads of lotions and potions and expensive shampoos but I dont think any of them work. I eventually, reluctantly, gave in to my mums old wives tail of a small capfull of jeyes fluid, diluted in a sink of water. I washed my hair, let her rince it in this solution. I dont know if it was co-incidence but it grew back quickly after that.

My hair is now all grown back, its definately a little lighter than it was before, especially just above my ears on the hairline there, but you'd never notice it now.

Its a horrible, confidence shattering thing to happen though OP- and not something people seem to understand. I came to the conclusion that people lose their hair for much more serious things, and in thos cases hair loss is the least of their worries. If its all we have to contend with, its not so bad really.

Give the auld jeyes fluid a go though- it does no harm, and i really think it helped me.

    Good Luck!

If you're in Galway, try going to Dr. Marie O'Brien in Doughiska, I can't recommend her enough. She's a really really nice doctor and she won't fob you off with "it's just stress". She'll want to get to the bottom of it :)

I'm pretty sure it's not Alopecia. I'll definately give the auld jeyes fluid a go and i'l also head to my local doctor on Monday Doughiska is about 50miles away:)

    Thanks for the advice xx

Hi I am experiencing some hair loss atm, I have a rather large patch missing on the left side of my head (about 1 inch radius circle...).

I was wondering how long it takes/took for the hair to grow back? And did it fall out again?

I'm sure it's from stress as I'm about to sit my final yr college exams!

Any response would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks, Cat

    Hi,

My hair did grow back and fell out again and again. My bald patch is permanent. I eat healthy food take hair supplements and have a special comb. Tbh I try not to think about it.

If you find a cure let me know

Hair loss or hair thinning can be very upsetting, I've been there myself.

I've tried every potion and lotion but no great success.

However, my hairdresser told me that it's good to take vitamin b6, not a wonder cure, but should go some way in helping improve your hair. You can get them in any chemist.
    Hope this helps!

I experienced this last year, had 2 completely bald patches on the right side of my scalp, both about the size of a 2 euro coin. the doctor didn't have much to say about it.

it started to grow back in feb and they are not noticeable now, but it was very upsetting at the time. tbh I was very stressed/down at the time and my hormones were all over the place/monthly cycles very irregular. I started taking a multivitimin and mineral every day, evening primrose oil and taking iron tablets a couple of time a week.

a friend told me to use an antifungal shampoo such as nizoral or oilatum as this had helped her with the same problem. she said it was due to fungal activity on the scalp (don't know her sources for this info). so I also used nizoral 1 to 2 times per week. I'm not sure what did the trick but the vits and spoo seem to have worked for me.

I've started on the evening primrose oil, and multivits. antifungal shampoo sounds like a winner. i am currently living a house covered in black mould, (i am but a poor student!!!) and it could be a cause!

It's very distressing alright, thanks all for your comments! They've calmed me down considerably! :D

turns out my dad had the exact thing when he emigrated at 22! and his hair is grand and think now. I do remember seeing a link between alopecia and it possibly being hereditary. so it's def stress/anxiety related.

    thanks again!
