The DS/DS Lite won't connect to wireless networks with WPA/WPA2 encryption. You may need to disable the encryption, or put on WEP instead, or get one of the Nintendo dongles. Changing to WEP might be easiest/cheapest.

The DSi supports WPA, but only for web browsing, not online multiplayer.

yep - that info is correct. it's pretty useless for web browsing by the way - too slow. online gaming can be good.

I have a BT Broadband router which has wireless support. The WEP key was on the underside of it. Needed to put that into the DS.

Since this thread is a year old is this still the case?

I don't believe anything has changed. You should be able to use the web browser, get updates and use the shop channel, but not play online with your DSiXL.
