    People...

Apologies if this is already a thread somehwere else...

last night i got Sky HD installed in my new house...All eager to go i was when the chap left and searching through the channels i found that UTV is not available on the normal channel listings i have to go into the services menu then other channels were i am presented with bbc hd and a load of itv and bbc3 and so on...although this is annoying its not my main problem..which is as its in this menu there is no way i can check on the tv guide whats on these channels also there is no record funtion or pause etc etc on these channels...especially annoying as the mrs cant live without reality tv and i just end up recording it for her.. and its mainly on UTV/ITV..

is there a way around this maybe re-tuning the box or something?

Also the menu is a completely different set up and i must say annoying upgrade....

No to ITV on the EPG and no to downgrading the new EPG either.
Other Channels info is in the stickies.

EPG is the electronic programme guide which is the menu system.

So am i right in thinking that i cannot record on ITV BBC HD and whatever other channels i have in that other channel list thing...

    Thats bloody rubbish....

Can someone explain simply why is it like this? as i had NTL DVR thing and UTV worked as normal and was able to record it...surely if it was a license problem then the same would occur with NTL? or am i just being really stupid here?

If you want to record any channels not on the programme guide you will have to get another set top box - I bought a Humax recorder and I find it great - I think that the picture quality is better than the Sky HD box and it allows me record all the BBCs and ITVs.

Did Sky not tell you of the limitations before they sold you the package?

Basically it is to do with Sky not paying these channels for the right to be carried on their system.

Basically these channels are big enough and popular enough that Sky has to pay the BBC, etc. to allow them to carry these channels on Sky's official EPG.

Sky are being stingy and not paying for these channels in Ireland.
