    Hi All.

I am getting married in the next two weeks time.

I had originally hoped to have music at the reception of the venue.
I had a guy in mind to play the Spanish guitar, he was very good, but his prices were crazy, €800 for an hour and a half.

Does anyone know of a guitarist or instrumentalist that would be more affordable?
Perhaps someone has used on or knows of someone that is a good player and fancies earning a few quid for an hours work?

    Thanks in advance.

    Brian

Is this while you are eating the meal? If so, just have a CD on in the background. We had thought about this before we got married as well and decided against it as, people won't exactly pay much attention to it. It's still background music at a high cost. In my opinion I feel your money is better spent elsewhere.

Ring up a college that would have classes on guitar playing, and see if they could recommend someone, or even one of their students. Or a VEC that has evening classes, you might even try presuade a teacher there? They'd do it for alot less than the original guy.

I'm guessing it's for the cocktail hour between the guests arriving at the reception but before the meal. I always think live music is better than recorded but it is a small luxory so obviously not necessary.

When and where (roughly) is your reception?
€800 is crazy money! He must be very good and very much in demand to be able to charge rates like that, or maybe it's because he has to travel a bit?
I play harp and wouldn't charge anywhere near that. If you'd be interested in harp instead (sorry, mods, if I'm not allowed to publicise but: ) send me a PM with location & date & I'll let you know my rate.

Hey - are you still looking for someone!? I know a professional musician who will NOT charge you through the nose! PM me if you're interested!
