I'm idle at the moment and I just want to get out there and do something, I know it's not so easy for anyone at the moment, I hate the guy at my local job centre - actually everyone does, but are there any jobs out there for people who don't have loads of experience?

When I look on recruitment sites all I get is sales jobs - I worked at door-to-door sales a few months back and it's just not something I'm cut out for - every one of them make themself out to be this great job that are more than happy to train anyone and make them part of their team and that they do all different types of sales, but it always turns out to be door-to-door:(

I was considering applying for a sales job in Capel Street as their ad looked good, but I passed by the address today and saw that it was above some Polish supermarket and didn't even have a name outside it's door, so I Googled a bit about it and found an old thread from these boards about it, so decided to not even bother applying as it was just another door-to-door sales 'job'.

Was going to try applying for call centres but they always ask for previous experience in a call centre in their ads - how is anyone supposed to start off in that case? Also they mainly want multi-lingual people and I can't speak any other languages.

Other jobs I was considering applying for was in retail, but would they even consider me? I have the look of someone that would work in a clothes shop, but don't know if that would count towards getting the job.

How do you even become a waiter? Everywhere I have checked out require previous experience as a waiter.

And where could I possibly get experience for any of the above?

Sorry for all the questions, I'm just desperate!

If anyone could help or give me advice it would be much appreciated:)

Same old story recession or not. You get these jobs, waiting at least, by lying or embellishing. So along the lines of "I spent a summer working in the Piazza de BS in Rome" - enough to get you the job without them expecting you to help them win a Michelin Star. What's the worst that could happen? they fire you and then you know what you did wrong for next time. By making it a foreign country they are unlikely to check references, and you can use references from real jobs to make up the difference!
