    hi
i have "inherited" a broken SE2200a mic and even though i dont know anything about mic repair i think the problem is fixable.
the person who gave it to me said that he dropped it and it hasnt worked since and he was too lazy to have it looked at so he bought a new one....

anybody know where i can take this to be looked at or what the problem might be?
the mic isnt recording any input at at all. (i am using phantom power)

or is it more reliable just to buy a new one?

    also...any opinions on the 2000?
    seems like a bargain

    thanks in advance

great little all rounder mic for the price.

if the capsule is gone you're only looking at about 45 to replace it. could be worht it.

also check all the wiring conections as anything could have come loose when it was dropped, if you're any way handy with a soldering iron you could probably sort it yourself.

We distribute sE exclusively in Ireland.

2200s are always just replaced, they don't warrant the expense to ship and repair.

However that would be units we supplied. sE are strict about that.

I've never heard of a capsule being sold as a spare , where is that from DT?

It's more likely to be a loose connection or something come off the board than a broken capsule.

The MXL V67G, the Joe Meek JM47 and the Se 2200A are all pretty much the same microphone capsule and electronics. Though the component quality of the Se is a little better. I believe a Pelsuo PK-47 25mm capsule will slot right as it does the others and definitely with it's Pelsuo mounting bracket. I've bought a few bits and pieces off John Pelsuo in the past and they've been excellent to deal with. I also believe he makes some of the finest microphones around. I suspect changing out the coupling capacitors for higher grade ones would help as well then you get into a whole can of worms.

I'd imagine the capsule is a bit more than $45 anyway. But if the microphone is broken and SE won't take it off you just get stuck in you can hardly break it any further:eek:
