    hi ladies...
decided to ask this in ladies lounge cos i don't know if i'm seriously messed up or if their are other women out there like me? i don't want to ask this to both sexes, as i think men generally see women as over exagerators anyhow, so this would only add fuel to the fire!!
in the last 6 months to a year, i've become really freaked out about things. i mean things like, if i have a spot where i never had one, it must be a lump. if i get a headache, it must be a tumour. if i feel tired and weak, my system is being eaten by some unknown disease!!! these are small things and laughable to most people, but i seem to be freaking myself out unbelievably. i think it started from an ongoing problem i have in my ear. i have this sound that appears all day and night and i can't figure out if its in my ear or coming from my head (not in the sense of makin noise up, but that the noise is physically in my head). i have seen a doctor and specialist for ears and nothing there. i think my doc just thinks its normal, but anyone i ask has never heard of it. i'm terrified it might be a tumor and that its going un-noticed. i have nothing to suggest it is, but i don't know what else to think. everytime i get sick or feel a bit down, i think of the worst scenario. i don't understand why i have become like this and i am terrified i will make myself ill if i keep going. i know this sounds ridiculous, and yes it probably is, but its making my life hell. i just wanted to know if anyone had any ideas as to what i could do to cure this? i used to always be so socialable and outgoing and an optimist, now i seem to have become the opposite.
if anyone has anything they think would help me (besides taking a bullet!!!), i'd be grateful for some help... thanks :)

    Moved from the Ladies' Lounge.

Return to your GP and request a referral to an ENT :)

It sounds like tinnitus ,Sounds like a fridge buzzing in your head . I got it from an ear infection couldnt actually go to sleep went to the doctor and he gave some medicine, didn't clear it completely but it went away after a month.

I had the same noise in my ear going for quite a while, never had anything done about it. Then recently ended up with an ear infection and with the help of some antibiotics both the ear infection and the buzzing went away :)

    hi nervous wreck...

its not tinitis anyhow as i was checked at an ent guy last year and he said it wasn't.
i was at a diff doc last wk and he thought it might be the sound of blood rushing through my veins and vessels and asked me to take my pulse and see if it matches the sound in my ears, but it didn't. i was trying to explain that its a constant noise, not a beating or pulsating noise, and he just didn't know then.

    Hi Op

I know what your going through I suffered with Health Anxiety for over a year and thought I was going crazy i wouldnt even take a panadol never mind any anti anxiety medication! If i had a headache or a chest pain I thought I was going to die etc..

The best advice I could give is to get a second opinion the ringing could be stress or anxiety related or it could be a number of other things, your senses are heightened which will make the feelings alot worse than what they are.

Head to a GP and tell them everything I found cognitive behavioral therapy and a bit of Rescue Remedy for when I was having the feelinsg (available over the counter) worked wonders.

Try to take your mind off the ringing it will go away.. and look after yourself

    xx
