Tell me what you think of this add http://www.tomfoxhonda.ie/usedcars/index.cfm?fuseaction=car&carID=200936195077078

I looked over the car at the weekend and I'm not sure everything adds up. I asked the dealer if it was an english import and he said no. I asked him why the clocks were in mph and not km's and he told me that all BMW in Ireland only changed to km's in 2005. I then asked to look at the service history and there was 1 english stamp and 1 from Joe Duffy. It was not however the proper service history as there were no other stamps in it. The english stamp had a phone number which began with 0161 or something and I pointed it out to the Dealer. He then said "01 sure thats a Dublin number" I left it at that even though I noticed the stamp had a web address which ended with .co.uk. The car was not as clean as the photo suggested and had many scuffs. The handbrake didn't work and there was a large fag burn on the back seat. I walked away because I didn't feel the dealer was being honest with me. I can't prove it and it was not worth my while doing a cartel check but I think the milage is a bit low for the condition. What do you think?

Run a mile - there are plenty of other cars out there. Don't give it another moment's consideration

    Mywheels.ie says it's an import

www.mywheels.ie says it's an import. Two stamps in the book and 93k kms - forget it.

0161 is a Manchester Number. The reg number looks high enough to be imported.

Looks like quite a nice motor though.

If you get the VIN nr you can phone BMW customer service in the UK and they can give you the details of all garages which have serviced it, and it'll confirm whether you're right or wrong about the mileage.

    +1

Even in perfect condition it wasn't that great a deal. Walk away and look elsewhere.

the mileage wouldn't concern me on a 5yr old car...3 owners in Ireland would be a lot I'd imagine though

Yeah I think I'll give this one a miss. I was surprised as this is a main dealer. I thought they would stay well away from cars like this

I've dealt with Tom Fox Honda before and I have to say I was 100% happy with the service I received.

Used, about 4 years ago, also went back for servicing twice.

Did you do a cartel check to see if it was clocked, imported or a cat d?

All I can say is , there are plenty of used cars out their for sale, you have a whole choice of them....
don't spend your time wondering about this one. .. move on look at others....
even if you buy it now, it will always never seem right....

IMHO chances are the sales rep just was clueless and not trying to decieve you, as it is so easy to check histories....
but instead of saying I don't know, he just made stuff up..

No, it was a 2 year old Irish car, Cartell wasn't around then but I was satisfied with the service history and all that jazz.
