    hi,

Any reliable companies in the uk that i can rent a car from? Alot of companies are offering cars quite cheap but in the terms and conditions there seems to be alot of hidden charges, fuel charges, damage deposits of £600 with one of them.. I dont have 600 quid to hand over on the time of renting a car, I though the insurance would cover damage? I have never rented a car before so I dont know what exactly I am going to be paying.. Avis are offering a small car for £87 for 3 days but what else exactly am I going to end up paying before they hand me the keys?

    Thanks

If you are nervous about companies then stick with the big companies like

    Avis
    Hertz
    Sixt

and try to use price comparison websites if possible like

    http://www.arguscarhire.ie
    http://www.autoeurope.com

Im hiring a car for 2 days in Glasgow through Argus and its coming in at €61 for a Ford Fiesta for two days split between 4 people. That will do just fine. :D

Insurance excess is the only thing you need to worry about by the sounds of it. You can purchase extra insurance to cover any excess payment you would have to make if something were to happen to the vehicle.

Example: Most companies say you will have to pay the first €800(or so) if you have something happen to the vehicle. You can buy extra insurance so you will not have to pay this.

Do you need it or want it? Thats entirely up to you. You cannot be forced to purchase it.
