Just ordered one from Dell, quick question, what kind of video games would I be able to play on it? I understand its far from a pure gaming pc, but would the latest Total War, for example, play well on it?

XPS M1530 you mean? And the model with the 8600M?

If so, it was a very good mid-range card 18 months ago. Now, there are better ones around, especially the ATI 4670 and 4650.

The 8600M will hit ~4800 3Dmark06 and play current games at low or maybe medium settings. Older games fare much better. Empire Total War is a newish game right, 2009? So you can probably play it on low/med. Heard its a buggy game though so it may be even worse.

    This.

The standard graphics card I think.

    The XPS M1330?

If it has the GMA 3100, that's what's called an integrated GPU. It won't be any good for games, at all. Maybe stuff from 6 or 7 years ago. It would really struggle on anything more recent.

If it has the 8400M GT, it's still a very low-end card. Forget about playing recent games. Also note that this card seems very unreliable because of a manufacturing defect, it is not a good purchase in my opinion.

Apologies, incorrectly linked to the 1330 rather then the 1530. ;)

    Thanks for the replies.

Alright, another quick question, not that I know my XPS 1530 is a pretty decent gaming machine - according to the Dell website, my laptop has been dispatched today, so when should I expect it to arrive on my doorstep in east Cork? :)

Depends where it's shipping from i guess. I'd say a week or more tbh!
