MSER entry for ACCA

    Howdy,

Was away for last year backpacking and had to come back earlier then planned so didnt think I`d be applying to go down the ACCA route this early...and therefore have missed being able to register for the December exams.

In relation to the MSER(Mature Student Entry Route), I believe I have to sit F2 and F3 first, and that these are CBEs. I read on the DBS website that they have CBE sessions throughout the year. Does this mean that I could sit F2 and F3 in ,say, January and then other exams in June or would I have to wait until next December?

Any advice would be fantastic. Head is melted from trying to figure it out :)

    Cheers

Ok, I think the way it works is to do Dec exams you need to be reg by August, which as you said yourself you missed. You could register in time for June 10 exams, and I think the most you can take is four at a time, but what you could probably do is start studying now for the two CBEs and then take them at the first available opp(I'm not sure when this is, maybe check with ACCA Irish office but I'd guess around Feb time) and then still be able to take another two exams in the June sitting. Best of luck :)

that sounds right, you could study for F2 and F3 now and do the CBE exams in Feb. There might be a small problem as you are a mature student I think the Feb exam is part of June 2010 sitting and you can only sit F2 and F3 in the June 2010 sitting. Someone who is not a Mature Student can sit 4 exams in their first sitting (June 2010) but as a Mature Student I think you can only sit 2 in your first sitting (June 2010)
    Hope this makes sense

    Hi Oglaigh

I was in the same position as you a couple of years back only I missed the reg for June sittings or so I thought till I looked into it.

The way is works is that you actually missed the registration for the paper based exams. The first three you are sitting is F1, F2 & F3 and these can all be sat as CBE's like you said, you can do it at any time from when you reg. I sat mine in May and I reg in Feb/Mar.

Also, the terms are from Jan - Jun and Jul to Dec you can sit up to four exams in each session and these include CBE's, so if you do 2 CBE's in Feb say you can only sit 2 paper based in Jun.
